The High Mountain region is located west of the province of Mendoza, marking the border with Chile and extending from north to south. It has three main mountain ranges: the Precordillera, Cordillera Frontal, and Cordillera Principal. The main routes leading to the mountain area are Route PN82, Route PN52, and Route NN7. A wide variety of outdoor activities take place in the beautiful landscapes of the Andes Mountains, including adventure activities such as rafting, trekking, ziplining, horseback riding, helicopter flights, and nature-watching tours. The main natural attractions to enjoy are Villavicencio, Cacheuta, Potrerillos Reservoir, the town of Uspallata, Penitentes, Puquios, Puente del Inca, and Mount Aconcagua.
To visit the region, it is recommended to allocate a full day, as there is a distance of over 190 km from the city. During the winter season, there are often snowfalls that cover the mountain peaks with a magical white glow. In contrast, in the summer, it is not common to find much snow.
