Uco Valley  Premium Tasting

After an extensive search in various regions of Argentina, François Lurton decided to plant his vineyards in high-altitude (1,100 m) and semi-desert (poor alluvial gravel resembling those of Pessac-Léognan) lands on the plains at the foot of the Andes mountain range. Thus, the pioneer of the Uco Valley built his winery, Bodega Piedra Negra, on 200 hectares of untouched land acquired in what would later become the Geographical Indication of Los Chacayes. Thanks to his worldwide experience, he immediately implemented environmentally friendly viticulture and produced extraordinary wines in this place.

The winery is located at an altitude of 1,200 meters, right in the middle of the vineyards. Over 49 hectares of native desert habitat were preserved and are part of the winery's daily landscape. The western horizon is dominated by the nearby snow-capped Andes, rising to over 6,100 meters. The magnificent winery was designed with two aspects in mind: form and function. The cross shape facilitates careful handling of the grapes and wine, while reducing the distance that both the fruit and its product travel during the various stages of production. Each wing constitutes a small winery with two levels in itself.
